The beauty of yoga is that it’s about making it your own and honoring your body exactly where it’s at, so come as you are. Our students come to us at all stages of their practice—from those who have never been on a mat to those who have been practicing for years. At Samudra Yoga all levels are welcome. There is no reason to feel intimidated, because we will guide and inspire you through this journey.

A few things beginners should know about Samudra Yoga:

–Our studio managers offer free yoga consults to help point you to the right classes. Contact us to arrange an appointment.

-We have an online reservation system and highly recommend reserving your space for each class

-We have mats available for you to use or to purchase

-Wear comfortable workout clothing. You might want to go with something slightly fitted as baggy clothes can often get in the way of poses. You’ll also be barefoot.

-We have water available for sale.

-At the beginning of class, inform the instructor that you’re new to yoga. He or she will provide modifications of certain poses and help you during class.

-Make it your own. Don’t worry about what the person on the mat next to you is doing. Listen to your body and relax into child’s pose when needed.

-It is suggested that you eat no sooner then 60 to 90 minutes before class to allow proper digestion. Breathing and movement will be much more enjoyable on an empty stomach.
